Instead of calming him down, as she thought the motion should, he seemed to tense even further and he lurched to his feet. She could have sworn that she'd seen kanji written in his eyes.įor a moment, neither one of them moved, but then Tanjiro looked around. His sudden movement had her jumping back, startled. No sooner had she thought this than his eyes snapped open and he sat bolt upright, putting a hand over his mouth to stifle a scream. Worriedly, she put a calming hand on his forehead, checking for a fever. Just as she reached him, he tensed up, as if the pain had increased, gritting his teeth (did they seem sharper than she remembered?), veins bulging in his neck and around his temples. She hoped she could help him without waking anyone else. "T-tanjiro?" she whispered, moving carefully through the mass of sleeping Kamado children to his side. So she turned to the last of her siblings and her eyes widened. They hadn't even woken with the soft noises as she had. Her other younger siblings didn't seem distressed either. She took a moment to smile at the adorable picture he made. She managed to pry her eyes open and looked over at her little brother, sleeping soundly on his own futon. She could tell from the noises in the other room that her mother had just gotten up to begin the day's chores and would have – very kindly – let her (and her siblings) sleep a little longer, but a soft whimpering drew her out of her own rest. The unusual sound woke Nezuko far earlier than she would have liked. I'm interested in how this shakes out, and in particular if it's action horror (where it's an action game where you gun down things with tentacles and occasionally get jumpscared and there's spooky imagery) a la Dead Space, REVII-type survival horror (where murdering everything is a much tougher proposition based on supply rarity/enemy toughness), or the Amnesia/Aliens Isolation "hide from anything" horror.Ī mysterious signal has been recorded coming from the red planet. Like someone else said, it feels a little like Dead Space, humanity goes places and digs to deep (mainly because DS was aping everything it could in the first place).

I mean a Lovecraft story where someone learns to tolerate nonhumans is progress for the man, I'll grant you that, but it still ends with our narrator starving and the megacorp planning genocide. And HP "revised" the story from someone else's work (Lovecraft did that a lot, both for hire and as a favor to friends-the other writer was a high school aged fan of Lovecraft's who came up with the premise, and H.P. and a post-script from his supervisors chalk that up to him going delirious as he died and they decided to wipe the aliens out entirely. Which one are you thinking of? The only one I can really think of set in space was In the Walls of Eryx (published after his death), which has a colonialist human trapped in an Alien maze slowly realize that maybe the Aliens don't deserve to be wiped out for defending their home from invaders.
